It All Began With One Simple Idea
In 2011, Erick Schitz arrived in Vancouver from Brazil, drawn by the mountains, the ocean and a city that felt different from anywhere he had known.
As he explored his new home the way any visitor would—joining local sightseeing tours himself—he kept noticing the same thing: big buses, packed itineraries and little opportunity for guests to genuinely connect with the city or their guide.
That belief became Vancity Tours, founded in 2016 with a simple mission: replace the big bus with real connection and turn sightseeing into an experience.
Today, the same spirit shapes everything we do—from our small-group tours capped at 14 guests to our fully private experiences. Every detail is designed to feel comfortable, personal and unmistakably Vancity.

I’ve been obsessed with this city’s history for years, and I promise it’s way more entertaining than it sounds — pirates, gold rushes, questionable city planning decisions, all of it. But don’t worry, I’m not going to lecture you. I like to think of myself as the loud, slightly chaotic friend who happens to know everything about Vancouver — lots of jokes, a few terrible puns, and zero awkward silences. By the end of the tour, you won’t just know the history, you’ll probably know it better than half the locals (and you’ll have a few new one-liners to steal for your next dinner party). So bring your questions, bring your energy, and let’s go dig up some stories this city’s been hiding for over a century.
